Snowflake ID Decoder and Builder
A Snowflake is Twitter's 64-bit distributed ID: 41 bits of millisecond timestamp, 10 bits of machine and 12 bits of sequence. Paste one to reveal its creation time and machine/sequence fields.
Pick Twitter, Discord or a custom epoch, and on the right you can also build a Snowflake from a given time — handy for "ID at a moment" boundary checks.
Features
- Multi-platform presets — Built-in Twitter (epoch 2010-11-04) and Discord (epoch 2015-01-01) presets, plus custom epoch and bit-width.
- Timestamp recovery — Decodes the millisecond timestamp and shows both UTC and local time.
- Reverse building — Given a time and machine/sequence, build a valid Snowflake for timestamp to ID range conversion.
How to use
- Choose Twitter, Discord or Custom in the preset.
- Paste the Snowflake ID on the left; the right side shows timestamp, machine and sequence.
- Fill time, node and sequence on the right and click "Build ID" to generate one.
FAQ
Why are the IDs so long?
A Snowflake is a 63-bit unsigned integer, typically 18-19 decimal digits; it is parsed as a string to avoid JavaScript number precision loss.
What epoch do I enter for custom?
Enter your system's epoch in milliseconds (Twitter is 1288834974657), keeping the common 41/10/12 bit layout.
