UUID Parser and Generator
Paste a UUID to see its version (v1/v3/v4/v5) and variant (RFC4122 and others). For v1 UUIDs you also get the creation timestamp and the 48-bit node.
Click "Generate v4" for a fresh RFC4122 random UUID. Everything runs locally, so nothing you paste leaves your device.
Features
- Version and variant — Automatically detects the UUID version (1/3/4/5) and variant (RFC4122, Microsoft, reserved).
- v1 timestamp — Recovers the 100-nanosecond creation timestamp and 48-bit node of a v1 UUID.
- Local v4 generation — Generates v4 UUIDs with the browser crypto RNG — no backend, instant results.
How to use
- Paste the UUID to parse on the left (with or without hyphens).
- The right side shows version, variant and, for v1, the timestamp and node.
- Click "Generate v4" to get a new random UUID.
FAQ
Are UUIDs case-insensitive?
The letter part is case-insensitive by spec, but the standard form is lowercase; this tool ignores case when parsing.
Are v4 UUIDs really unique?
v4 uses 122 random bits, making collisions negligible. This tool only parses and generates; it does not guarantee global uniqueness across devices.
